The StemThief™ displaces used grease and relubricates. This tool has been evaluated for conditions where dried grease and varnish conditions were present on the stem. The StemThief™ is able to successfully displace most of the old grease, and establish a new grease coating on the threads.
Multiple units are currently in use at Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant. Through use of the StemThief™, Palo Verde has seen a reduced Coefficient of Friction (COF) as much as 33% (0.15 to 0.10).
